My alarm happily turned on this morning at 3:30am, and I bolted out of bed, made a cup of coffee and had a shower. Thankfully, Sandra had put in a lot of work in the past couple days to make us well-prepared to hit the road, so we had little to do in the way of last-minute packing or panicking.
So, after having to call Beck’s after the airport limo didn’t show up, we got to Pearson on time, and…well, a 5 hour flight is a 5 hour flight 🙂
We got to EagleRiders and picked up the bike, and made our way ~60 miles through not-so-bad traffic, only for me to figure out that a) I missed the turnoff for the route we had planned, and b) the guy who gave us the bike left the key in it, and it had fallen out somewhere along the way. So we called eagleRider and then made out way back to pick up another key…ok, 120 miles and we’re basically out of LA. It was all worthwhile – it was a glorious ride through Angeles National Forest, and a smooth ride through the rest of the desert valley up to Lone Pine. A decent meal, a nice swim (in an outdoor unheated pool!), and a pleasant hotel wraps up our first day of travels, and it was an excellent day overall.
Anyway, I am uploading a few images here, but the WI-FI here sucks and I am getting sleepy – I’ll process and upload more tomorrow.
Happy trails.
