Well, the story goes that I will be turning 50 this year, on the 10th day of September. I am not sure I really believe the story, as it seems, so far at least, to have gone extremely quickly!
Oh well, I’ve accepted that it’s all true, and have decided that I want to start the second half of my century by doing something exciting. Something unforgettable. Something…unusual.
So, I decided that Sandra and I would be riding two-up on a rented Harley Davidson Electra Glide! Not only that; we’re starting our trip by flying to Los Angeles, picking up the bike, and then riding to Chicago on the mother road, Route 66. Every time I’ve been down to Vegas with friends, we’ve ended up driving the countryside. Red Rock, Bryce Canyon, Death Valley, etc. That whole area is one that I’d love to someday explore, but I figure that we will be able to see a good part of all that, riding the winding road across the country.
Anyway, I’ve started this blog, mostly for family to see our adventures, but feel free to look around. I am hoping to post quite a bit in the evenings. We start the trip on the 3rd of September, so keep an eye out for hotel & restaurant reviews, pictures from Sandra and I, and perhaps even some road weary driven prose 😉
